When we talk about social media we should always remember that it was a network of individuals speaking with individuals. For the first few years social media was on a small, intimate scale.
That scale meant that we established rapports with everyone on the network and trolling would soon be eliminated.
Today Facebook and Twitter are algorith giants where individuals are lost behind the noise of trends and web celebrities. In that environment the things to be policed are verified accounts, celebrities, trends and of course algorithms. Don’t forget that without algorithms we would only see content by likeminded people within our network sharing to likeminded people in their network.
